Good evening ladies and gentlemen. This is BBC news and Julia Koryakova is in studio. First, Libya: Gaddafi in spotlight at UN Security Council. The UN Security Council is meeting in New York to consider action against Muammar Gaddafi's government in Libya. A draft resolution before it calls for an arms embargo, a travel ban and an asset freeze in response to its attempts to put down an uprising. There is also a proposal to refer Colonel Gaddafi to the International Criminal Court on charges of crimes against humanity. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has demanded "decisive action" by the Security Council. The draft resolution it is considering is backed by Britain, France, Germany and the US. As The UN Security Council is meeting in New York, Brazil judge blocks Amazon Belo Monte dam. A Brazilian judge has blocked plans to build a huge hydro-electric dam in the Amazon rainforest because of environmental concerns. Federal judge Ronaldo Desterro said environmental requirements to build the Belo Monte dam had not been met. He also barred the national development bank, BNDES, from funding the project. The dam is a cornerstone of President Dilma Rousseff's plans to upgrade Brazil's energy infrastructure. But it has faced protests and challenges from environmentalists and local indigenous groups who say it will harm the world's largest tropical rainforest and displace tens of thousands of people. And in conclusion I want to say that Mouse heart 're-grows when cut', study shows. Scientists in the United States have found newborn mice can re-grow their own hearts. The mice had a large chunk of their heart removed a day after birth, only for the heart to restore itself within three weeks. Fish and amphibians are known to have the power to re-grow heart tissue, but the study in Science is the first time the process has been seen in mammals. British experts said understanding the process could help human heart care. That is all I have for today. Thank you very much for your attention. That was BBC news and Julia Koryakova for you. Stay with us.
